The children had a “culinary week”. First, we offered them unpeeled bananas with plastic knives, spoons and popsicle sticks and just observed what they did. They chopped, peeled and squished the bananas and ate them along the way. Next, teacher Elizabeth brought all the ingredients to make guacamole! They scraped and mashed avocados and blended it into a bowl with cilantro! They used chips to scoop up the guacamole and ate their new found healthy treat.
The children used styrofoam panels and inserted pipe cleaners to create a very interesting 3D art project. They tried different approaches to make the pipe cleaners stick which exercised their small motor movements. They needed to estimate, cooperate with a friend and realize what it took for the pipe cleaner to remain in place. Please take a look at our new 3D artwork on our wall when you come to class.
