Your children really seem to be enjoying school and the challenges that come along with it. Each one of them brings enthusiasm, energy, and warmth into our class, which contributes, to the wonderful feeling in the classroom. We have noticed that our friends in Room 25 really enjoy painting. These last two weeks we have continued our study of colors. We discovered that when we mix red paint and yellow paint it makes the color orange. As we paint, our friends are working together and individually to create beautiful art. They are learning to develop their imagination and creativity. They are learning the names of colors and also how to make new colors. As they experiment, they are practicing their fine motor skills, critical thinking skills and also their pre-writing skills. Best of all, they are learning to share and cooperate with each other. This is a process, which we will be working on all year long. This week has been all about the holiday of Sukkot. The word "Sukkot" means "booths" and refers to the temporary dwelling that we are commanded to visit during this holiday. The Sukkah is great fun for children. It's like a fort - they are able to look up and see the sky. On Monday, we visited the Sukkah. Rabbi Josh and Andrew, our music teacher joined us. We recited the blessings over the Etrog and Lulav. And all of our friends got to shake the Etrog and smell the Lulav. They loved looking up and seeing the sky. The children had a wonderful community experience, singing songs and dancing around the Sukkah. Today, we celebrated Simchat Torah in Temple. The children paraded around with their flags, which they made, while singing along with Ditza and Rabbi Josh! It's been an amazing few weeks in Room 25! Shabbat Shalom! Sigal, Marcela and Judy
