December has arrived and we have had a week filled with joyous Hanukkah spirit. We explored the holiday of Hanukkah in many different ways. We learned Hanukkah songs, read books about Hanukkah, painted special candle boxes, made a sparkly hanukkiyah with paper towel rolls, practiced spinning dreidels and placed Hanukkah candles in our Hanukkiyah. We talked about how we light candles on Hanukkah just like we do on Shabbat. We learned about the helper candle, the Shamash, and talked about what an important job the Shamash has because helping others is a very important thing to do. This week our little mouse hid under a different colored dreidel each day for our Hanukkah flannel board story. It's been a really wonderful and festive week! Through play, our friends in Room 25 learned math concepts like counting, sorting, greater than and less than. They also learned about colors and practiced their fine motor skills by spinning dreidels and placing candles in our Hanukkiyah. On Wednesday, we went on a little field trip to see the construction area. The children were fascinated and loved watching the fork lift, the dump trucks and the workers building. We asked them, "What do you think they are building? A castle, a slide, a house, a tall building." All great responses! We look forward to seeing everyone at our Hanukkah party on Wednesday, December 14th at 11:30. Thank you for signing up to bring delicious food to eat! Excited to celebrate together as a community.
