Dear Room C Families,
It has been another week of learning and fun as we focused on Purim. Your children have been hard at work making groggers to shake whenever they hear Haman's name, making crowns, baking hamantashen and dressing up as kings and queens, super heroes and mice. The children have been so engaged in the story of Purim, and they have enjoyed learning the songs associated with the holiday. Baking is a wonderful activity that incorporates so many aspects of our curriculum--science, math and sensory experiences. We measured, mixed, rolled and pinched the dough to make hamentashen, and then the children chose whether to fill their cookie with chocolate chips or jelly. We loved seeing so many costumes and the joy of the holiday transform our everyday space in classroom C. We have truly enjoyed seeing your children so excited to learn with us on their first Purim in school. Dear Room C Parents,
This week was short but packed full as we began to talk about and celebrate Purim. We introduced the characters of Purim with a simple felt board story and we made groggers to shake and boo at Hamen. On Friday we baked yummy hamentashen and enjoyed fruit salad from the farmers market. (Thank you for your contributions to Beit Issie). Also, as a bonus, we got to enjoy music class with Teacher Andrew not once but twice as we joined room D in their music class. The children enjoyed playing with the parachute and learning Purim songs like "Esther Will You Marry Me". All in all a busy week of fun and learning! Shabbat Shalom & Enjoy your weekend, Elena & Anita Don't Forget, this Sunday is the Purim Carnival!! Lots of fun for the whole family don't miss out! Dear Room C Families,
We had a busy and fun filled week full of sensory exploration. Your children have been learning and exploring by painting with sponges, using sensory bottles full of different objects inside to shake then watch and hiding then finding objects in our glittery play dough. We had a great time with the egg shakers and brightly colored scarves at music time with Teacher Andrew who mentioned noticing a great deal of development in our group from one week to the next. We're giving ourselves a pat on the back! We are busy growing and learning each day. Each day we practice following the routine, increasing our ability to sit and attend to activities, and taking turns with friends when sharing toys. We are seeing lots of growth! Shabbat Shalom & Enjoy the long weekend, Elena & Anita **Remember there is no school on Monday and Tuesday (2/19 & 2/20) in observance of Presidents Day & for Staff Development Dear Room C Parents,
Another week has flown by with your children busy as bees! They are painting, dressing up, working on puzzles, playing firefighter or with cars and of course, enjoying books, music and story time...Do I dare to say we are out of the woods? We are very proud to say that all of the children have made a full transition into the classroom and are happily enjoying all the fun and excitement each day. What an amazing accomplishment! This week we celebrated Tu' BiShvat by talking about trees and what grows on them, Watering the seeds we planted last week, listening to the Apple Tree felt board song and singing Happy Birthday to the trees. With each year your children will delve a bit further into each holiday. For now, In First Steps, we keep things age appropriate, making connections to the themes that they can relate to. As you may have heard, next week is "Father's and Grandfather's Week and while many of you that have older children will have visitors on campus to take part in the activities we have decided not to participate at this time. As the children are so newly transitioned we feel it would be confusing and present some difficulties when it comes time for visiting to end. We are happy to host our Dads and Grandpas later in the session when the children are more settled. Please let us know if you're interested and we can discuss future opportunities for Dads or other relatives to join us in the classroom. Here's to another great week! Shabbat Shalom and enjoy your weekend, Anita & Elena Dear Room C Parents,
What an awesome week it's been here in room C! We've been busy with activities such as building with tree blocks, singing new songs like "Five Little Apples on the Apple Tree", making a collage on contact paper with leaves and twigs and standing tall like a tree with outstretched arms for branches in music class with teacher Andrew. Noticing a theme here? We are preparing for our celebration of Tu BiShvat next week. We are keeping things age appropriate, and hands on as we explore all things related to trees and plant life in honor of the holiday. On another note, your children have come so far already and it's only week three. They are sitting at circle time, following the daily routine and playing side by side with their friends while practicing turn taking. We're so proud of them! We Look forward to more fun and learning with them next week. Have a great weekend & Shabbat Shalom, Anita & Elena Dear Parents, Look how far we have come! Throughout these last six months, we worked on many different concepts. with your children. Beginning with transition, sitting quietly during circle time, waiting our turn at snack time, waiting in a line before walking into our classroom, walking on the rope to Temple on Shabbat, raising our hand if we have a question, helping a friend if they get hurt, what it is to be a good friend and finally potty training. Your little ones have come so far and grown in so many different ways. They are beginning to understand and remember these wonderful changes. They have accomplished so much and should be very proud of themselves for all their hard work. We are so proud of your amazing children. It has been a pleasure to spend each day with them. To encourage them, to motivate them, and to teach them. To hug them when they were sad, to high five them when they were happy and to keep them safe. Thank you for trusting your precious children with us. We will think of them often and miss them so much. We wish you all a wonderful and peaceful summer of travel and exploration. All Our love, Teacher Nikki and Teacher Liora What better way to bring in the warm sun than by being outside? Your kids love every minute spent outdoors! During this time they are given an opportunity to explore, learn, and experience the natural world. This last week we used the colorful plastic rings to help teach them their shapes and colors. Setting the rings on the floor and jumping from one ring into another, taught the kids how to identify each color. They even practiced balancing the rings on their hands, holding a ball, and pushing the shopping cart. This was not only a fun game but it also helped them develop their gross motor skills. The toy house in the sandbox was another fun activity that each child enjoyed playing in. Your children made Teacher Nikki and Teacher Liora ‘’ice cream cones’’ and ‘’coffee’’ as well as playing in the sandbox. Your kids enjoyed riding the bikes, pushing the shopping carts, and rocking on the teeter-totter with other friends. On some days this week, we laid out butcher paper and paint, as well as play dough and other games on the table. This allowed each child to act out their own creativity. Teacher Liora also sang songs in the grassy area with the kids; where they were dancing, laughing, and singing along. We look forward to water play once the weather gets warm enough.
