Dear Parents,
It's been a week of fun learning and creative activities. As we continue our unit on Patterns, the children are finding ways Patterns connect with other things. In the classroom as we begin to engage in pre-reading and pre-math skills, it becomes evident to the children that patterns of letters join together to create words and patterns of words join together to create sentences. During small group time, the children were given Legos and Unifix Cubes to create letters and make patterns. This is a great activity that focused on fine motor skills, letter and color recognition, and pattern making. The children just got their feet wet with this activity and next week we will further explore it by introducing the concept of "Connecting." We have been utilizing our yard outside the classroom for other exploratory activities throughout the day. It's a nice option for the children to have the choice to be inside or out, choosing their activity. This week we used Color Diffusing Paper, in the shape of a leaf. Color Diffusing Paper is a fabric-like paper with great texture. The children used spray bottles and eye droppers with liquid watercolor over the paper, and watched the colors flow and blend to make spectacular patterns and effects. What a fun process with stunning results. We then took the leaves to border our classroom wall and set the tone for Fall. The week ended celebrating Shabbat and going to the Temple for our gathering. Thank you to the Noriani family for joining us and making it more memorable.
