SDear Room 21 Parents,
This week was all about Hanukkah! As you may have noticed we have a festive new décor in honor of the holiday Season. We shared the story of Hanukkah, introduced the Hanukkiyah and counted the candles. The children practiced putting the candles on the menorahs and taking them off again, sorted them by color and counted them again. We even watched how the candles melt and discussed the idea of hot and how only teachers, mommies, daddies and other grownups may light the candles. We sang Hanukkah songs, spun dreidles and created holiday themed art. The children enjoyed all the fun and we look forward to more next week! Today, to celebrate Shabbat we joined our neighbors in the classroom next door for Shabbat snack. We lit the first candle for Hanukkah. It was very special! We learned about the Shamash and its important role as the "helper candle" which we use to light a candle each night of Hanukkah. What a lovely time we had learning about Hanukkah! We look forward to Monday and hope to see you all for our Hanukkah Celebration. See you all at 11:15! Shabbat Shalom & Happy Hanukkah, Anita & Sue And another important reminder: Our Hanukkah Tot Shabbat is on Friday evening, December 11 at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a Shabbat service with Rabbi Josh and Ditza, along with a community candle lighting, a traditional Hanukkah dinner and tremendous fun afterwards with the Beat Buds.
