This was a short and fun week where we continued to learn about Tu B’Shvat. We learned about the citrus family. We got to squeeze lemons and turn it into Lemonade. Feel free to ask your child for the recipe. We also squeezed oranges and enjoyed the juice. We hope you can enjoy the video with the children singing about the citrus fruits. Here is the link for the original song -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeiCTmqMyvs The children discovered that in Israel there is a tradition to eat dried fruits for the Holiday. They also learned about Almond trees – “Shkediya”. They made a beautiful “Shkediya” project that involved a few parts: hand and arm printing, painting the branches on and gluing flowers and cotton balls on. As part of the learning process we learned about the different parts of a tree: roots- “Shorashim”, trunk-“ Geza”, branches- “Anafim” and leaves-“Alim”. We continued exploring the holiday by having the children plant seeds in a beautiful pot. Here at Ulpanon Bet we read to the children every day. This week the books we read were all related to and in the spirit of Tu B’Shvat. We read a book about making salad: “Salat Tov Tari” by Mirik Snir. We also read “Hanan Haganan” by Rinat Hoper. This is a special story about fruit and we learned all about different fruits. The teachesr had a picture for each fruit mentioned in the story. Each character had a picture too. We started an experiment and began learning about seeds sprouting,. Each child put beans, cotton balls and water in a bag. We then placed it in the window and will observe it and watch it grow. Reminders:
Warmly, Meirav and Talia
