What a Wacky Week we had. The entire school was filled with laughter, smiles, the smell of Hamantashen and lots and lots of children dressed in costumes.
We started the week with smiles and special dress for Pre-K pictures. Our class practiced their smiles and giggles before we arrived and shined like stars for the pictures. We even managed to get through PE without messing our hair. Trying to keep a little clean and not get to messy on Monday, we brought out Mr. And Mrs. Potato head for the first time this year. Room 2 decided that the Potatoes needed to dress up for Purim, so the children put together the wackiest costumes, faces and hats for each of the potatoes. Funny how the simplest toys can keep the children busy and full of laughter. Super Hero day was filled with all kinds of heroes from SWAT team member to Captain America to Super Teachers. In morning circle, we talked about what super powers each of them possessed and how they help the community. Yoga on Tuesday was all about Purim and a trip to Shushan meeting the characters and learning their favorite Yoga Poses. Did you know that Mordechai liked the star pose best? Just ask the children to teach you some more Yoga Poses. Before the day was out on Tuesday, we celebrated Blake’s birthday with chocolate cupcakes. They were so yummy that we each got 2. Wednesday may have been rainy but that never stops us from having lots of fun. It was Wacky Wednesday and were we Wacky. Our hair was colored, up on one side, spiked and in fancy braids. Some of us wore our clothes backwards, inside out, and 2 different shoes. The children became teachers for circle time and the teachers became students. Liam brought in the book Wacky Wednesday to read to the class. He walked around with the book as we all tried to find the Wacky things on each page. We baked our own Hamantashan filled with strawberry jam and chocolate chips and M&Ms. They were so yummy. We hope the children that brought them home saved you a bite or two to taste them. The children exchanged their Mishloach Manot baskets before we left for the day. They were very excited to see what was inside and the goodies they would have to eat and play with. Thursday was the holiday of Purim and some of the children came dressed as Queens, Palace Guards. Teacher Fern came as Haman, BOOOOO. She looked very funny in her hat and beard. During our Purim services we listened to the 6th graders read from the Megillah Esther, followed by a Shpiel with some of the teachers as the characters. We all sang along, shook our groggers and danced at the King’s party. After services we distributed the Mishloach Manot baskets we made to the Rabbis, Cantors, and School Administration. The children wished everyone a Chag Purim Sameach. The week ended with Challah baking, more costumes and exhausted children.
