Dear Ulpanon Bet Families,
Thanksgiving is almost here and there are so many things to be thankful for. We are talking about being thankful and participating in many seasonal activities. In class the children shared things that they appreciate and say Toda for in their lives. They were all thankful for a family member and then they included that they were thankful for clothes, favorite foods, etc. We thought it was beautiful how they recognized which things are of primary and secondary importance in life. For our art project the children are making a turkey with each feather listing something they are thankful for. This is another great way to reinforce the idea of giving thanks as is the tradition of the season, but also something important to reflect on year round. Also, the children enjoyed baking corn bread that they then ate for snack and got to take home. (see pics below) The kids had fun telling the story of Thanksgiving with puppets we have in class. We showed the children on the globe the route the pilgrims made on their journey to America. “Bim Bam Tiras Ham” is a classic book in Hebrew. It is about children that are going on a trip to find corn. After we read the book in class we asked Ulpanon Bet friends to discuss how the children in the story lost their corn. We then looked for hidden corn in our classroom. Later the children shucked the corn and got to eat it for snack. We are so happy with the progress the children are making in Hebrew: the vocabulary, accent, songs, deep understanding, speaking with each other and much more. In some moments we are in a state of bliss at how well they are doing and how much they have learned. We hope you can see the progress. Thank you to Sharon, Lielle’s mom for coming to the library and reading books to our friends. The children decorated Kippot and they can wear them for Shabbat. Reminders: Please send Tezedakah and Sova on Friday. This is a “nut safe” school. Please do not pack foods containing nuts in lunches. November 26-28 no school. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Warmly, Meirav and Talia
