You can always tell when the holidays have arrived. We are busy, busy trying to fit in all the fun activities and take in all the excitement this time of year has to give.
The week started off with an Early Childhood Havdalah. As we separated the Shabbat from the start of our school week, we also celebrated the first day of Chanukah by lighting the Chanukiya together. Room 2 is always filled with joy when we participate in prayer and holiday celebration as a school family. The classroom maybe warm, but it is sure cold outside. We decorated snowflakes and the children talked with each other about the warm places they are visiting or have visited for vacations. Palm Springs and Hawaii seemed to be the winner amongst the group. Our puzzle skills were challenged this week. We mastered a black and white version of our Chanukah floor puzzle. It was a little difficult, but our puzzle masters did it. We think the teachers had a harder time than the children. As you all know, Tuesday was our Chanukah Celebration with the family. Thank you to all of you for a warm and wonderful celebration. We even had a visitor via Face Time. Sunny was away on a business trip, yet still wanted to be in touch and a part of the Room 2 festivities. After the party we made Chanukah Snow Globes with the help of Chloe’s mom. Each globe was designed by your children. We hope this will be a Chanukah Decoration for years to come. How could we not mention the Chanukiyot that went home with all of you. Your children again designed each one and each one was a true reflection of the individual creativity. The rain came as promised and we all settled in for inside play. Thank you to Teacher Chen, (an Explorer teacher), for setting up a special activity. Her sister-in-law is a children’s book author of the series Matzah Ball Soup. We really enjoyed along with the entire Pre-K. Thank goodness for Teacher Ren. She checked the Gym to see if it was available for us to use and we had a great time running around burning off energy. We all enjoyed our Savor Sufganiyot that we made on Thursday. Ask the children about rolling, stuffing and pinching the edges. It is always so much fun to cook with your children. Friday, Anderson’s family joined us for Shabbat. We had a room full or family and the excitement could be felt by all of us. Anderson promised to take good care of Doobi and keep him good company every evening at bed time. We have room for everyone to sign up for a second Shabbat to share with another room 2 family. If you haven’t done so, please look at the list on the door for an additional date.
