This week has been such fun! We continued to focus on plant life and the life cycle of plant and trees in honor of the Tu B'Shevat holiday. The children especially enjoyed getting their hands dirty as we planted seeds and beans in soil. We also enjoyed pretending to be apple trees counting down from 5 as we shook each apple off of our trees then pretending to eat them. It was so much fun exercising our bodies as we practiced counting and using our imaginations in the process.
Story time was also a big success as the children continue to increase their capacity and interest in sitting and engaging in circle time activities. On Wednesday we listened intently to 4 stories and even asked for more! Music and movement are also a big part of our meetings on the rug and this helps keeps our little minds fully engaged. Pre-math and science, including counting, sequencing, sorting by size and color and open-ended exploration and observation of natural materials are such important early learning experiences. There were so many opportunities to engage the children in all of these this week and we so enjoyed ourselves! Don't forget to talk all about the plant life you see around you and how important it is to care for our earth. Monday we will celebrate Tu B' Shevat with a cake and more planting activities! Please bring in a piece of fruit with seeds or a pit. Have a wonderful and restful weekend & Shabbat Shalom! Anita, Sue & Dianna
