Dear Parents of Room 20,
We had a fantastic week at school. We continued our lessons on Passover and replaced our spring themed library books with age appropriate books about the story of Passover. It has been wonderful to watch all of the children progressively become more interested in books and will now seek them out during indoor play time. The children did a science experiment mixing water and oil in a water bottle with some red food dye to resemble the red sea separating. The children also used a fork to create a stripped pattern on paper to resemble matza, as we will soon be eating it for snack as well as at our classroom Seder. The children have become more interested in the story of Passover as we have continued reviewing catchy songs that we practice during circle time. This week Andrew brought with him his parachute and the children practiced following directions about how to move the parachute and when to go under and over it. This also gave the children the opportunity to review directionality vocabulary as we often do with our finger-play songs such as “going on a bear hunt.” The students also collaboratively made a cake. We talked about measurements, the importance of following instructions and discussed briefly the science of baking. Thank you so much to Audrey for being Shabbat girl and to her family for bringing such a wonderful snack and spending Shabbat with us. Congratulations to Olivia, Sally and Benjamin on the birth of their twin girls!! Reminders: Next week we will be collecting food for our Passover SOVA drive. Please send your child to school with an item to donate to the SOVA bin for Passover. We will visit the SOVA market as a class to donate these items. Items to include can be: Kosher for Passover canned goods, macaroons, Kosher for Passover Cereal, Matza, Gefilte Fish. Also, there is a sign up for items to bring to our Passover Seder, which is on April 5th, next to the daily sign in sheet. Parents are also invited to our Seder but no siblings please. Shabbat Shalom, Marloes, Michelle and Tatiana
