We hope you all had a restful winter break. We are so happy to be back where we belong with our room 15 friends! The children are delighted to be back as well, and have all grown. They all remember our classroom routines and have adjusted well in this first week back.
We are continuing our ongoing Noah’s Ark project this week and are creating a keshet (Rainbow). We are using various painting and art techniques to create each color. So far we have completed adom, katom and tzaov (Red, Orange & Yellow). At morning meetings we are discussing what it means to have Kavod (Respect) and we respect our families (mom & dad), friends, teachers, Rabbis, Torah and G-d. We spoke about how we use our imagination (Demaiyon). This conversation was brought on by one of the children expressing that he was worried about a scary noise in his house. We read the story Alligator Under My Bed and discussed that we are all safe in our homes and here in school. We told the story Eliezer ve Hagezer (Eliezer and the carrot) and the children will be able to tell you what happened to the carrot. Along with that story we are telling stories and singing songs reviewing all the names of the animals we know. Next week we will continue our work on our keshet (Rainbow) as well as introduce Tu B’Shevat the Birthday of the Trees. We celebrated Aiden’s 4th birthday here in class. Happy Birthday to Aiden!
