We celebrated Israel’s 67th (Sheeshem veh Shevah) birthday this week. Our class, with all of our Explorer friends, sung, ate, and danced with Brak. We baked a cake in honor of Israel’s birthday with blue and white. The children cut their very own Israeli salad and ate falafel and Humus with Pita. The children enjoyed every bite! We examined the details of the flag and talked about Israel’s age. We counted up to 67 with different objects so that the children can have a physical grasp of the objects and see the quantity. The children decided that they will go to Israel for the birthday celebration next year…so get ready!
We celebrated Earth Day and the children made fresh juice, used a compost machine, planted fruit and vegetable seeds, and had some Yoga time. We read the story “Are you my Mother” and had a discussion about the book at circle time.
