Dear Parents,
This week we enjoyed another wonderful week of celebration in observance of Israeli Independence Day or Yom Haatzma’ut. We read books, talked about Israel and created beautiful works of art, all in honor of Israel’s Birthday. In particular, we made Israeli flags, focusing on the colors and shapes we noticed while observing the flag. We talked about what we saw and we all agreed there are: "two blue stripes and two triangles” (one right side up and one upside down). The children then had the opportunity to experiment with those cutout shapes in order to create his/her own interpretation of the Israeli flag. They were very pleased with their work. We also did “string painting” on kites with blue and white paper and paint. The children made designs by dipping their strings into paint and lowering the strings slowly down over the kites creating really cool round and spiral shapes. Again, we talked about shapes, in this case diamonds and circles. By Friday, we were all ready to celebrate and enjoy Shabbat. The kids dressed in white and Blue and we made a delicious birthday cake we enjoyed for snack. We were pleasantly surprised to have Rabbi Woznica lead us in the services along with Ditza, as Rabbi Josh is in Israel with Wise Elementary School students. What a great way to wrap up the week! We also want to thank the Dayani family for joining us and congrats to our big Shabbat Boy, Michael! Shabbat Shalom and have a wonderful weekend, Anita & Sue
