First Grade Singing in the Sukkah!Music This week in music we sang and danced in the sukkah with Mr. Brock! Reading In reading this week we were introduced to expository texts. We discussed features of expository texts. Ask your child what the difference is between narrative texts and expository texts. Social Studies This week we studied democratic democracies and learned about how we can vote to make choices in our communities. We read Duck for President and filled out ballots to vote for who should run the farm. Ask you child if they voted for, Duck or Farmer Brown! Math In math this week we completed chapter 3, which focused on addition sentences and addition stories. Hebrew & Judaic This week we learned about Sukkot. We smelled an etrog, shook the lulav, and sang and danced in the sukkah! Homework Homework should not take your child more than 10 or 15 minutes. This should not include reading, which should be a separate 10 minutes every night. After your child has finished reading (with you, or by him or herself), please sign your initials on their reading calendar. In addition, please practice the weekly spelling words every night with your child.
