We have been having so much fun in first grade these past two weeks! We celebrated our 100th day, had an American assembly, and went on a field trip!
Writer's Workshop In writing this week we began our next unit on opinion writing. We discussed the difference between facts and opinions. We read three stories by Jack Ezra Keats and gave our opinion and reason on which story was our favorite. Math In math this week we began doing double digit addition. We learned to line up double digits numbers one on top of the other, then add the ones and lastly then the tens. Hebrew/Judaic Studies This week in continued our vocabulary connections with the letter tzadee with the unit on colors and toys. Let your children be the teacher! Homework Homework should not take your child more than 10 or 15 minutes. This should not include reading, which should be a separate 10 minutes every night. After your child has finished reading (with you, or by him or herself), please sign your initials on their reading calendar. In addition, please practice the weekly spelling words every night with your child.
