Shofar during ElulIt is customary to blow the shofar each day in the month of Elul to remind us that Rosh Hashana is coming soon. Mielle blew the shofar this morning in front of the whole school! ReadingThis week we focused on Making Connections while we read. We learned about text to self connections, text to text connections and text to world connections. We've been very busy getting our school year started with so many fun things in Second Grade. ReadingWe have read a few stories to learn about character traits and how to describe the characters in a story. Social StudiesWe are also working hard on our personal timelines. These timelines remind us that Change Leads to Growth! MathWe also started a new Math program called Singapore Math and have been busy using different tools to help us learn! Judaic StudiesThe 2nd graders have gotten off to a great start in Judaic Studies this year! We have already had many opportunities to experience wholeness. We started off the year focusing on a few things; mitzvot, loving your neighbor as yourself,and being a "mensch". We have also had an introduction to Bible studies. We have learned how many books are in the Bible, "Tanakh" the neames of the books in English and Hebrew and the parts of the Torah. HebrewWe are off to a great start in Hebrew! We are learning the difference between מי and מה (who and what). We also read our first book in Hebrew called שלום כתה (Shalom Kitah).
