What if you took one night of Hanukkah and gave a very special gift to children who have neither books nor adults to read to them? This year, make a difference in a child’s life and experience the joy of tzedakah andg’milut chasadim by joining us for Light Up Literacy, a tikkun olamprogram that makes great happen by bringing books to kids in rural Guatemala. This fall, Wise School is partnering with Reading Village to celebrate our ability to read while actively addressing the darkness of illiteracy in Guatemala, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Approximately 50% of the nation’s rural population remains illiterate and lives without reading. Together, we hope to extinguish the darkness of illiteracy in Guatemala. From December 1 to December 19, we hope your family will participate in our Light Up Literacy campaign. The premise is simple: by reading books at home and at school, your children can help raise money to bring literacy to students in rural Guatemala. It’s really easy: 1. PLEDGE: Help your son or daughter collect pledges from family or friends for every book they read. 2. READ: Support your child as they read to themselves, to you, or to a younger child in their life. 3. CELEBRATE: Before Dec 19, celebrate your child’s accomplishment by making your total donation online at: http://www.classy.org/lightupliteracywise2nd |
