The Second Graders have been enjoying their time in Project Studio this year. They have been learning about Geography and more specifically about continents and map symbols. In groups, the students designed and created their own map symbols. This week they created the maps of North America on which they will put their symbols. This is such a wonderful hands on experience for them to learn about our continent, what countries and oceans border the United States and how to make a map. This week our second grade classes had many opportunities to experience wholeness as the holidays continued. We sang and danced in the sukkah as Mrs. Weinstein led us in songs full of fun and meaning while we danced and enjoyed the mitzvah of being in a sukkah. In classes we continued to reinforce the concept of wholeness as being part of the Jewish people, who celebrate Jewish holidays and practice Jewish traditions year after year, over time and around the world. Students come to the realization that these practices have happened in the past, during our present time, and will continue to be celebrated in the future. Am Yisrael Chai! Whole Child Discussion GroupOn October 20 there is a Discussion Group for parents of students in 2nd-4th grade in the Project Studio room at 8:15. The discussion will be on building self reliance and independence in your child socially, emotionally, and academically.
