This week was a celebration of student creativity and art! Here, you will find pictures of the fourth graders creating their Magical Mandalas using the disciplines of art and mathematics. Ask your child about the process they used to create their mandala. We think you will be impressed! This weekend will be the first annual Wise Havana Nights Gala. Each fourth grade class created a collective piece of art that will be featured at the Silent Auction at Saturday night's gala. Please be sure to check out the students work on entitled, "Letters to My Future Self." The other classes and grade levels will be featured as well. This week in fourth grade, we explored the literary device of theme and how author's use theme to get their message across to readers. We discussed the difference between themes and topics and how themes relate to the big world, whereas topics relate to the small world of the text. Students used various topics to generate possible themes and then found textual evidence to support those themes.
