Dear Fourth Grade Families,
We wish all of you a very Happy Hanukkah and a happy and healthy New Year ahead! With Love, The Fourth Grade Team Mrs. Hechtman, Mrs. Neal, Ms. Spielberg, Mrs. Orevi, Mrs. Stone, Mrs. Miodovsky, Mrs. Mizrahi, Mrs. Bahat The past two weeks, students in fourth grade have been going to Project Studio to learn how to be better group members when working collaboratively and also learning about what it means to be an "explorer." Students were asked to identify their strengths within a group, and given strategies to make group work easier. In Social Studies, students have been learning deeply about the Spanish and English explorers that colonized California, but in Project Studio, they began to see that there are many modern-day explorers to learn about as well! In addition to Project Studio, the fourth graders have been busy proving the Big Idea, "Exploration is driven by the quest for power." Their essays and illustrations demonstrate deep learning and great strides in their research and writing abilities! Kol Hakavod!!!! We are SO close to reaching our class goal of 100% participation. We are hoping that every student will bring $2 to help fund programs to bring a love of reading to students in Guatemala. Thank you! This week in Ms. Spielberg's class we are discussing sequence, the order in which things happen in a story. Today students made a detailed sequence of the main events in Chapter 6 of The Lemonade Wars. Upcoming DatesTuesday, December 16th - First Night of Hanukkah!
Thursday, December 18th - Superhero Day! Dress as a superhero! Friday, December 19th - Half Day (12:30 dismissal) Winter Break Monday, January 5th - School Resumes The power of family makes us who we are! Enjoy the Midor L'Dor photos! Our Light up Literacy campaign is already underway! A big thank you to all the students and teachers who have already donated. It's great seeing all the kids wearing their handmade bracelets made with love from the students in Guatemala. For just $2, students help make it possible for children in Guatemala to have books so that they can learn to read and develop a love of reading. We are hoping to have 100% participation in both fourth grade classrooms (including the teachers) and the kids can donate as little as $2 or more if they so desire! Thank you so much for helping to bring the love of reading to the children in Guatemala this Hanukkah! Upcoming DatesTuesday, December 16th - First Night of Hanukkah!
