There's nothing like the holidays to remind us of what is most important---our families! In fourth grade, students deeply explored how our families make us who we are and then wrote heartfelt essays capturing the importance of family and the love they have for all of you. Warm wishes for a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday. With Love, The Fourth Grade Team Upcoming DatesThursday & Friday, 11/27-11/28 - Thanksgiving Holiday (No School)

Just a few days until Thanksgiving! Our fourth grade students have been busy preparing special gifts for their Midor L'Dor guests and also learning the ABC's of collaboration and teamwork. This week in Project Studio, both fourth grade classes began a short unit during which they will learn targeted strategies to help them be effective and supportive team members during group activities. We are excited about our second session with Mr. Meth in the coming weeks and are looking forward to seeing all of you and your guests for Midor L'Dor next Wednesday! Upcoming DatesWednesday, 11/26 - Midor L'Dor (Half Day - early dismissal 12:30 pm)
Thursday & Friday, 11/27-11/28 - Thanksgiving Holiday (No School) Students in fourth grade have BIG ideas!!!! In Mrs. Hechtman's reading class, students learned how to formulate big ideas in groups based upon a novel that they had just read. We talked about the general versus the specific and how big ideas need to be able to be generalized to many and varied situations as opposed to just a single situation. Within their groups, students used word cards to spur their thinking and then added some of their own thoughts to generate some pretty thoughtful and sophisticated BIG ideas! Check them out! Upcoming DatesWednesday, 11/26 - Midor L'Dor (Half Day - early dismissal 12:30 pm)
Thursday & Friday, 11/27-11/28 - Thanksgiving Holiday (No School) This week, in Mrs. Spielberg's math class, students tested their memory AND math skills by making their very own math memory games. Students wrote challenging multiplication and division equations, answered them on a separate index card, then played memory with their partner to find the match. Students in Mrs. Hechtman's reading class explored the literary element of thematic analysis. Students then applied what they learned by using evidence from the text to prove each theme on a class poster. Fourth graders also completed their school civic duties by voting for their Student Council Representatives and the Class Representatives this week. Students also participated in a fantastic Project Studio as a culminating activity for all of their research on California's Native American tribes. Just more examples of how students at Wise are making great happen each and every day! Upcoming DatesWe are looking forward to a beautiful 4th Grade Soulful Shabbat Service and Dinner together, tonight! Please have your children arrive by 6:15 pm so that they can get ready with their classes for the service.
