Students in Mrs. Hechtman's reading class had their film premiere Friday morning of their public service announcements. We walked the red carpet and took photos before taking our seats at the premiere! Students researched various topics pertaining to elephant behavior, elephants in zoos and circuses, and the poaching of elephants. They then worked together in teams to produce and film their own PSAs which we presented to the class this morning. Be on the lookout for the videos on the Weebly page soon!
Fourth Grade has had some really amazing times the past two weeks! Last week's STEM Fair was a huge success and the 4th grade raised quite a bit of money for their Hesed project. The proceeds of which will be donated to the SOVA pantry to provide food for families who need it. What a great example of making great happen and the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam! Students also got real-world experience running a store and dealing with the mathematics relating to sales and profit. Thank you to all the students and parents who made this night a success! Wednesday was a fantastic School Spirit Day with Pajama Day! 4th graders read to their 2nd grade buddies in Hebrew using books on the iPads. They also enjoyed cozying up and having some yummy milk and cookies! Just another example of experiencing wholeness and making great happen at Wise! EarthWise EventOur first annual EarthWise event was a success! Fourth graders in both classes did two rotations for Earth Day. One rotation was with Ms. Kim planting native plans for native animals. The second rotation was a presentation by the Department of Water and Power on water conservation strategies. What a fun way to make great happen and experience wholeness as a grade level and a school!
On Monday April 20th, we will have our first EarthWise event. We would love it if you and your child would participate by doing the following: TONIGHT!
2. Have your child bring gently used children’s books that they have outgrown for our EarthWise Book Swap. Students will be able to swap books and get a book that they haven’t read before to take home and keep. PICK UP INSTRUCTIONS ON MONDAY 3. On Monday, April 20th, carpool will look different. Please read the following carefully. You will need to park your car and then go to the following areas of campus to get your child. Pick up for Room 45 students: Arbors by carpool area Pick up for Room 46 students: Udko near the Sanctuary Students will be at their second EarthWise rotation where they will be listening to a presentation by DWP and/or working in the garden planting native plants for native animals at Wise. At 3:30 you will may pick them up but are encouraged to stay for the remainder of the EarthWise event that goes until 4:30 pm that day. Thank you for your help and cooperation! Please let us know if you have any questions. Yom Ha'Azmaut Performance 4/23Please be sure that your child is here by 6:00 pm April 23rd at Hershenson Hall in their costume and ready to go. Parents can enjoy our outdoor Cafe and Desert with cappuccinos while they wait for the performance to begin! The show starts promptly at 6:30 pm. We can't wait to see you there. It is a fabulous performance!
Students may need to bring clothes from home for their costumes. Be on the lookout next week in your child's planner for the costume they need to bring. Feel free to use our Wise Haggadot if you wish to use them at you Seder:
