Students in fourth grade have BIG ideas!!!! In Mrs. Hechtman's reading class, students learned how to formulate big ideas in groups based upon a novel that they had just read. We talked about the general versus the specific and how big ideas need to be able to be generalized to many and varied situations as opposed to just a single situation. Within their groups, students used word cards to spur their thinking and then added some of their own thoughts to generate some pretty thoughtful and sophisticated BIG ideas! Check them out!
