Shabbat Shalom, Room 7 Families! The children gathered around their festively decorated community table, admiring their hanukiot and showing their parents their carefully crafted masterpieces. Rabbi Josh entered the room, and sat at the head of the table to lead the children in a Hanukkah story and prayers. After our families enjoyed a delicious breakfast of latkes, bagels, fruit, vegetables and sufganiyot, the children stood before the class to sing, “Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah” for their parents. Our celebration finished with the children receiving the hand sewn pillows that they all worked to create over the last several weeks. This ongoing project began with the children designing the pattern on their pillows, then sewing the pattern, and then closing the pillow by sewing the two sides together, leaving enough room for them to reach in and stuff the pillow with fluff. The children were delighted to share this gift, along with their beautiful hanukiot, with their parents as they said their goodbyes after the Hanukkah party. Everyone enjoyed the celebration, and are anticipating their plans with family during the winter break. We hope that everyone has a very Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year!
