Our kindergartners have been actively learning deeply about Thanksgiving. We have studied the Pilgrims and discussed why they so strongly felt the need to leave England, even though they would face many hardships. Did you know that Pilgrim children slept on the hard, cold floor of the Mayflower and helped with many chores? Children were responsible for making candles and soap and turning meat over the fire. Children were expected to stand while eating and only speak to adults when spoken to. Thankfully, our feast will be run a little differently, but we have still been working our "turkey tails" off to get ready for it! Thank you to our Sixth Grade Buddies for helping us complete our Thanksgiving placemats. We look forward to celebrating all we are thankful for next week at our Feast with our classroom community.
