This week students in room 5 started doing research on big cats. Students listened to some books and watched videos on big cats with a focus on lions, tigers, and cheetahs. They also learned these animals are different type of eaters. They learned about the meaning of the words, carnivore, herbivore, producer, and consumer. Students in room 6 learned about their teeth! They did many fun activities such as learning the names for different teeth in their mouth, learned how to brush their teeth and talked about different types of food that are good or not so good for their teeth. In math we concluded our chapter on numbers 1-100. Students practiced their numbers 1-100 by playing games and practiced finding the missing numbers on a hundreds chart. This week in music students were introduced to different types of instruments from the music families (i.e.: string and percussion instruments). We started this short week with learning about a few famous presidents from our past. Students learned about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Barack Obama. Students made a George Washington hat and an American flag that they got to wear and wave proudly at our patriotic assembly. At the assembly students heard and sang along to many patriotic songs. In math we are continuing with numbers to 100 as we practiced making different numbers using cubes and finding missing numbers. For the next couple of weeks students will work on becoming experts in learning about big cats (room 5) and marsupials (room 6). Patriotic AssemblyUpcoming Events2/27 Wise School Gala
