Bzzzz…. The sound of a bee is quite fascinating, and so was listening to a bee keeper herself. We were very lucky this week to have a special visitor here to bring bees from her hive. The children listened beautifully to how bees make honey and they even got to move up close to observe the bees. They came back to the room and recalled the information they learned. “You cannot take the Queen Bee away from her hive because she is in charge.” “The boy bees don’t have to do any work.” “Bees have a very hard job.” What an amazing experience we had here at Wise School.
We sat down to draw and recall information for our very first journal page. The children remembered a lot about Rosh Hashanah and even told us special experiences they had with their families at home. We took a trip to the Music Lab where we enjoyed singing new songs for our first music class. We met Maestro Kates and enjoyed getting to know him and our new music space. We had our own reflection individually for a classroom Tashlich. We looked into a mirror and the children were able to reflect a little bit about who they were and what goals they had for themselves in the coming year. They repeated their reflections to themselves in the mirrors. Here is what they said: "I want to be a better builder." "I will hug my brother and sister more." "I will have good behavior when my teachers say something." "I will help clean up more." "I can color more and be creative. I will also help clean up when it's time." "I want to be a better listener." "I'm going to go to bed on time." "I will color more and become an artist." "I want to listen when it's time to go to bed." "I will try harder to listen." "I will play nicely with my brother." "I'm going to work on cleaning up." "I will play nicely with my friends at school." We look forward to continuing these reflections together.
