Both last week and this week's Klei Kodesh did an outstanding job of leading us in the morning service and sharing their personal thoughts to their chosen prayers. In Mrs. Orevi’s class, the students learned new phrases in Hebrew which corresponded to the actions of cutting and squeezing. There were stations of juicing oranges, cutting strawberries, and enjoying Tu B'Shevat treats. Isreali dance, the ropes course, and archery were a few highlights of our Camp Alonim field trip! Important Dates:
February 9th – Skirball Field Trip February 10th – Immigration Simulation (Details to follow next week!) We’re excited to announce that Elliot Lichtman has won the DAR Essay contest at the district level, and his essay will be going to the state competition! Congratulations to all DAR students! In Music Lab, the fifth graders are learning chords on the guitar! Students are learning about life in the colonies this year. Crafts were an important part of the culture and daily lives of colonists. These tin punch frames were inspired by the intricate designs originally made by hammering nails into tin can pieces. The art of quilting started as a way to use leftover scraps of material to make blankets for needy families, providing a social event for women and children during winter months. These unique compositions provided an opportunity for students to experiment with both of these traditional colonial crafts. Camp Alonim reminders:
