In Technology, the fifth graders are programming EV3s for a lunar mission! The students are focusing on programming rovers for simple commands such as moving a certain number of rotations or utilizing different sensors.

On Wednesday, we celebrated President's Day by wearing red, white, and blue and had a fun filled assembly singing songs about America! In math, the students have been practicing adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with fractions and decimals. The students are now studying the slave trade and the impact it had on West Africans with a focus on summarizing non-fiction text. In Art, the fifth graders created their own Mandalas! Friday, February 26 | February Birthday Celebrations Saturday, February 27 | Havana Nights Wise School Gala Sunday, March 20 | Purim Carnival Fifth grade visited the Skirball Cultural Center in preparation and anticipation of our Immigration Simulation. Students worked in groups to piece together the story of five immigrants to the United States from different time periods. Each fifth grader was given a free pass to come back to the museum with their family! Our immigration simulation was an enriching hands on experience! The students had fun dressing up and going back in time to 1910. First, they traveled by train and boat to Ellis Island. Once there, the students had to make their way through passport control, luggage inspection, health inspection, an intelligence test, and a naturalization exam. The students packed thoughtful items in their suitcases and it has been a pleasure hearing about their personal connections to immigration in their own family histories! Upcoming Dates:
