The fifth grade had their first field trip of the school year! Aligned with our Social Studies focus this year on American history and the foundations of the United States government, the students went to the Reagan Library where they were able to see a replica of the White House Oval Office, walk aboard and explore Air Force One, and learn about the life of Ronald Reagan through various artifacts and videos. It was a wonderful interactive experience for our students! See some of our photos below! The fifth graders decorated bookmarks for each of the nursery school students as a Hanukkah gift. Here is Room 41 sharing their love of reading with the students! We had a fun filled Spirit Day filled with Israeli treats and a farewell ceremony and slideshow for the Elharizi students! This week in Mrs. Fridman's class the students presented their צריך " (tzarich )"song project . Here is Sabrina and Lindsey's video. We hope everyone has a wonderful winter break and a happy, healthy New Year! Here are some websites your child can visit over break to keep their mind active!
Reading: Students should read, read, read over break! Newsela.com has wonderful nonfiction articles! Newsela’s text-leveling process allows student to select their reading level as well as take Common Core–aligned quizzes attached to articles. 20 articles plus quizzes is equivalent to one book on the Ultimate Reading Challenge! Some articles have been assigned according to reading classes and students can select the other articles of their choice. Math: Review chapters 1-3 and get ready for Chapter 4 https://sites.google.com/site/wiseschoolroom41/math In Mrs. Goldberg’s math class, students practiced their factoring, multiplication, and adding skills by playing the game “What Two Numbers?” In this game, students are given a sum and a product and have to figure out what two numbers make both solutions true! Try this game at home by making your own set of cards! This week was filled with many fun events including Praying with Parents, Light Up Literacy, and class Hanukkah parties. The students celebrated and learned about the origins of Hanukkah throughout the week in Hebrew and Judaic Studies. 5th Grade is traveling to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum for our first field trip of the school year on Monday! The bus will be leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 2:00 p.m. * Students must bring a snack and a lunch. Students that receive Vicki’s Lunchbox will be provided with a sack lunch for the field trip. The fifth grade students are also learning about the motivations and context behind exploration of the Americas.
