Fifth grade has had a busy two weeks back from break! Here are some of the highlights! At the Shabbaton, the students welcomed Shabbat, danced, went for a nighttime hike, explored Camp Alonim, and celebrated Havdalah! The fifth and sixth grade students had the privilege of listening to Ms. Eva Brettler, a Holocaust survivor, who was 8 years old when the Nazis invaded Budapest, Hungery in 1944. This was truly a special commemoration of the 6 million Jews who died in the Shoah-Holocaust. At our Yom Hamoreh service the students honored Mrs. Frost for her many years of teaching at Wise School! The fifth graders enjoyed watching the Yom Ha'atzma-ut Assembly and recalling all of the of songs and dances they performed last year! Wise School celebrated Yom Hazikaron by blowing the shofar and saying HaTikvah together. Upcoming Date:
The fifth graders had an incredible Passover journey through four different stations! The students explored the holiday though Depth and Complexity as well as enjoyed a glass of grape juice to represent each glass of wine. In Room 40, Mrs. Fridman led a Passover Bingo game! In Room 42, Mrs. Mizrahi led the students in creating Tagul art with words and symbols related to Pesach. In Room 41, Mrs. Orevi led an unanswered questions lesson. Each student asked factual, analytical, and evaluative questions relating to the Passover holiday on post it notes. The students then chose a peer's question to answer. See some examples below! In Room 52, Mrs. Bahat led the students through mindful eating. The fifth graders enjoyed all of the foods on the Seder plate and took time to think about the significance of each item though smell, taste, and feel. Upcoming Dates:
If you’ve strolled past ZH in the last few weeks, you may have heard the melodious sounds of Maria, the von Trapp family, and the villagers of Salzburg, Austria filling the room with songs from the classic musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Sound of Music. Come see the talented Wise School students performances: Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10 at 3:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, April 11 & 12 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale atshowtix4u.com. Come and see that the hills are really alive! STEAM night was a blast! Student were given the opportunity to build, program, and investigate.
