This week we had a very exciting field trip to La Plaza at Olvera Street. The 3rd graders got a chance to see and experience a part of Los Angeles that they have been learning about in Project Studio. We all had a great time. The students especially enjoyed the Avila Adobe and the first fire station. Thank you SO much to the parents who helped out!
We hope you enjoy a wonderful LONG weekend! There is NO school on Monday OR Tuesday. We look forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces on Wednesday. Shabbat Shalom The new year is off to a great start! Despite a rainy beginning to the week, the sun is shining (for now!) and we are having a wonderful Friday.
In Project Studio this week, students continued working in groups to make maps of Los Angeles. A few weeks ago, they mapped out what the Los Angeles looked like when the Gabriellino Tongva Native Americans lived here. They included types of housing and other landmarks. This week, the students added another layer of paper and began drawing what Los Angeles looked like when the city was founded by Mexican Americans. In addition to doing hands on Social Studies in Project Studio, the students have been enjoying reading TIME For Kids and California Weekly to learn about past and current events that affect our world today. Lastly, our wonderful Klei Kodesh students talked about how they pay respect to God. Have a wonderful weekend. Stay dry!
