Week of September 8, 2014 This year has gotten off to a great start! The first three weeks of school have been very exciting. We have been reading Appelemando’s Dreams and illustrating the sequence of events in the story. In Math, we have been working on place value, number order and rounding. In Project Studio, we have been learning about land formations including the vocabulary and identifying them on a map. We look forward to meeting you next week at Back to School Night! Hebrew/Judaica In Judaic Studies we are currently delving into an introduction of the Bible. We have learned how many books are in the Bible, "Tanakh," the names of the books in English and Hebrew and the parts of the Torah. We understand that the Torah is the Jewish people's most precious possession, and we are sharing our own most precious possessions in class. Of course the holidays are here and we are happily learning the customs, traditions, blessings and songs of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year! Here is an example of how we start our Hebrew class in Mrs. Fridman. The students are now able to recite all of the days of the week and they are almost finished learning to write in cursive!
