Happy Friday! This week the third grade students continue to make progress on their Passover performance. In addition to continuing to practice their singing and choreography, students began practicing the script and reading their lines. Things are finally starting to come together and it's very exciting for all. In Project Studio the third-graders have been learning about architect Paul Williams who was one of the first African-American architects in Los Angeles. He built many well-known buildings in the Los Angeles area. Students did an inquiry activity where they moved through different stations with artifacts relating to Paul Williams. While in the groups, they had to answer questions based on the artifacts at each station. Next week they will begin to build three-dimensional blueprints. In technology students have been building robots that they have been controlling with iPads. Below are videos of some of the third-graders with the robots. Shabbat Shalom! Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Friday! We've had a wonderful week in 3rd grade. When we returned to school on Wednesday, we celebrated President's Day by wearing red, white, and blue. We had a wonderful assembly in which a band, led by Maestro David Kates, played songs about America while teachers read quotes from presidents and other American icons. Students enjoyed singing, dancing, and celebrating American presidents and our country. The 3rd graders are having a great time practicing their songs and dances for the Passover performance. Soon, speaking roles will be assigned. What fun! Lastly, 3rd graders are continuing to learn about slavery and the impact it had on America. During reading, some students were investigating and learning about slavery on laptops. Shabbat Shalom! Enjoy your weekend. Happy Friday!
Thank you to all the parents who came to Praying with Parents this morning. It was great to start the morning with you all. We know your children appreciate you coming. This week, the 3rd graders continued practicing their dances and singing for what will be the Passover performance. In Project Studio, the children are learning about architecture and will soon begin working on their 3D blue prints. Just a reminder that there is no school Monday (President's Day) or Tuesday (pupil free day). Students can wear red, white, and blue attire on Wednesday to celebrate President's Day. Enjoy your long weekend! Happy Friday!
This week the 3rd graders have begun rehearsing for the Pesach program. They have been practicing songs, learning about the script, and learning some of the choreography for the dances. It’ll sure be exciting! We have also begun reading With Open Hands: A Story about Biddy Mason. It’s a true story about an African American slave and her journey. The students are excited to learn more about Biddy Mason and what the life of a slave was like. Lastly, the 3rd graders had a nice visit with their 1st grade buddies. They love each other! Shabbat Shalom |
