We had a very wonderful week. Purim was exciting! We had a school wide service full of songs, costumes, and fun. We also celebrated by participating in Israeli dancing with Mrs. Orevi. Lastly, the students traded mishloach manot and enjoyed each other's treats. Below is a video of students in Mrs. Fridman's class singing Purim songs. Lastly, we wanted to remind you that swimming for PE resumes on Monday (or Tuesday, depending on which class your child is in). Make sure your child comes with a swim suit, towel, sun screen, goggles, and a swim bag to put their wet items in. Shabbat Shalom!

Happy Friday!
Thank you to all the parents who came out for parent teacher conferences. It was great meeting with you all. This morning we had a wonderful Shabbat service with the whole school. It was a special Founder's Day service where we honored all of the founding congregants and Stephen S. Wise himself. Below are some pictures from this morning's service. This Sunday is the Purim Carnival at Wise School! We look forward to seeing you there. Here is the information. http://www.wisela.org/Purim/ It sure has been an eventful week! The 3rd grade survived two visits by a skunk! Thankfully, no one got sprayed. Everyone sure got a kick out of it.
The students are contining to research, explore, and take notes on their wild animal for their independent studies project. They are learning how to parahprase and cite sources. Very exciting stuff! In PE, the 3rd grade started playing volleyball this week. They've had a good time practicing during recess as well. In art, students are finishing up making their very own Kiddush cups out of clay. They look great! Lastly, students in Mrs. Fridman's class read the story "Malka's Shabbat Dress". After learning the song "Who Likes Shabbat" and the verbs "sing" and "dance". students wrote their own verse to the song. If you have not done so already, please sign up for parent conferences. Shabbat Shalom! in We've had another great week in 3rd grade. The students have begun rehearsing their songs and lines together in the synagogue where they are learning their blocking and how the whole Passover performance looks with all three 3rd grade classes. It's coming along great. During Mrs. Frost's library time, Jillian came by to be a guest reader for Read Across America! Thank you, Jillian! In Mrs. Orevi's Hebrew class, they are applying the Wise Learning Process to improve their Hebrew and to learn deeply. They used the Concentric Circle and the Prompts of Depth and Complexity to utilize scaffolding in clarifying concepts and the big idea of Unit 4 in our Keshet. They became Creative and made Great Happen with the unit about Haverim. The students are beginning their independent study project on wild animals. A form is being sent home with links to websites that are good research sources. Attached is a copy of that paper along with a downloadable file. We look forward to seeing all of the student's progress. Dear Parents and Students, Here are some resources to help you with your research.
