We've had a nice (short and busy) week! Thank you to all the parents that attended parent teacher conferences. It was wonderful getting to know you better.
In math, students are continuing to work on adding and subtracting four-digit numbers, using place value blocks to regroup. Soon, we will be starting two step problems using bar models. In one of the reading groups, students created comic strips to display their understanding of how onomatopoeia adds to a story's meaning. Pictured below is Rianna Fisher and her comic strip. The students are continuing to practice their songs for our 3rd Grade Shabbat Service. We look forward to seeing you there. In Mrs. Fridman's Hebrew class, Madelyn Schwartz enjoyed being the teacher of the day. Here she is leading a game. Important dates: Sunday November 1st at 8:45am: Mitzvah (http://tinyurl.com/qhny2oc) Friday November 6th at 6:15pm: 3rd Grade Shabbat Service Shabbat Shalom!

We've had another great week in 3rd grade. The students have been practicing Shabbat songs in music that they will be singing at the 3rd Grade Family Shabbat Service on Friday November 6th. We look forward to seeing you all there. In science, the students are continuing to learn about habitats. This week, they learned about the Australian outback and planted in a terrarium consisting of different Australian plants. In Hebrew, the students are progessing on their reading, speaking, and spelling. In Mrs. Fridman's Hebrew class, students are studying a unit on birthdays. Below is a video of a song that they love to sing in class. Lastly (but definitely not least), we were very excited to start our Mindfuless classes this week. The students (and teachers!) were very excited. They can't WAIT until we have it again. We have had a wonderful week in 3rd grade. In science, students are continuing to learn about habitats. This week they focused on how certain animals in the rainforest adapt to their habitat. In Project Studio, students finished their three dimensional maps of Los Angeles that they created in groups. They look great! In math, we are continuing to use place value pieces to add 4 digit numbers. Students are learning what it actually means to regroup. Students are enjoying reading a variety of short stories and novels in their reading groups. Lastly, students are thriving with cursive in Hebrew and they are expanding their speaking skills by expressing their thoughts in longer sentences and even using short paragraphs. Students even wrote their own verse to a song!
