PreK: This week, in honor of February being Dental Health Awareness Month, we learned all about teeth! We talked about why we have teeth, how to take care of them, and compared the different shapes of animal and human teeth.
Kindergarten: This week, we learned about the different classifications of animals, and worked together to group them by their similarities. 1st Grade: This week we continued our unit on space. We talked about the sun, it's important roles in our solar system, and watched a video with facts about the sun. 2nd Grade: This week we finished our discussion on erosion. We talked more about the effects of erosion from different weather conditions, and watched a video on erosion as well. 3rd Grade: This week we learned about the weather in different areas around the world. Using Google as our guide, we researched the climates of different areas and found out the average temperatures and amount of rainfall. 4th Grade: This week we continued to learn about erosion. We read an article about how erosion was caused by Hurricane Sandy, and conducted an experiment to see how erosion can be limited by creating sand dunes on beaches to protect the shoreline. 5th Grade: This week we continued our unit on space. We checked in with our observations in our Night Sky Journals, and took educational notes on a video all about stars and how the sky "works." 6th Grade: This week we continued to learn about heat. We conducted experiments to find out which materials are the best insulators by seeing how well they could keep ice water the coldest.

PreK: This week, we learned about rainbows. We talked about the water cycle, and how the light reflecting and refracting makes rainbows. We also looked at light through prisms to see the different colors white light is made out of.
Kindergarten: This week, we learned about the different classifications of animals, and worked together to group them by their similarities. 1st Grade: This week we began our unit on space. We learned about the different phases of the moon and how it appears at night. 2nd Grade: This week we worked in the garden. We discussed how water affects the soil, and looked for signs of erosion. 3rd Grade: This week did not have class due to a field trip. We will see everyone next week! 4th Grade: This week we presented our Prosthetic Limbs and filled out a reflection survey about the design challenge experience. 5th Grade: This week we began our unit on space. We asked questions about Earth and space, and began our Night Sky Journals. 6th Grade: This week we continued to learn about weather and climate with a lab about convection currents. Using colored hot and cold water, the students were able to see how they interacted with one another and ultimately cause wind. PreK: This week, we learned all about the 5 senses, and what type of information we get by using each sense.
Kindergarten: This week, we learned about the different classifications of animals, and worked together to group them by their similarities. 1st Grade: This week we made a natural pesticide using ingredients from our kitchen and bathroom. 2nd Grade: This week we learned about erosion. We looked at examples around our campus, and explored different water shed scenarios using stream tables. 3rd Grade: This week learned about tools that meteorologists use to learn about the weather, and made our own anemometers out of straws, cups, and a pencil! 4th Grade: This week we concluded our Prosthetic Limb Design Challenge. We are so proud of the students, and look forward to them presenting their designs next week. 5th Grade: This week we concluded our Ecosystem Projects! We are so proud of the students, and look forward to them presenting their designs next week. 6th Grade: This week we began learning about weather and climate. We discussed El Nino and learned about the water cycle. |
