Kindergarten: This week, we continued to learn about animals while brushing up on our ABC's by watching a video that named an animals starting with each letter of the alphabet, as well as its many characteristics.
1st Grade: This week continued to learn about the sun and how it appears to move across the sky. We also used our sundials to tell time. 2nd Grade: This week we continued to learn about simple machines. We experimented with pulleys and a catapult, and identified other simple machines that we use in our daily lives. 3rd Grade: This week concluded our unit on weather and climate. The students identified the differences between the two, and watched a video talking about climates around the world. 4th Grade: This week we began designing our earthquake-proof structures that we will building and testing using our bran new shake table! 5th Grade: This week designed and built our stomp rockets, and are ready to launch next week! 6th Grade: This week we finished our research section of our Science Fair Project, and began to formulate our hypotheses and procedures.

PreK: This week, in honor of February being Dental Health Awareness Month, we learned all about teeth! We talked about why we have teeth, how to take care of them, and compared the different shapes of animal and human teeth. We experimented with a few different types of simple machines, and are connecting what we are learning to the invention project for their Heroes unit. 3rd Grade: This week continued to learn about the weather in different areas around the world. We made bar graphs representing the different temperatures throughout the year in different areas around the world. 4th Grade: This week we began learning about earthquakes, and read an article about how engineers build structures that are shake-proof in earthquake-prone areas. 5th Grade: This week we turned in our Night Sky Journals, and began designing stomp rockets using what we learned about gravity. 6th Grade: This week we solidified our science fair topics, began conducting research on our topic and its related elements. We talked about the moon and the sun, and one class made their very own sundials! 2nd Grade: This week we are learning about structures and properties of matter, and students participated in an activity where they built structures in a particular way, disassembled them, and then used the same pieces to create an entirely different structure. 3rd Grade: This week continued to learn about the weather in different areas around the world. Using Google as our guide, we researched the climates of different areas and found out the average temperatures and amount of rainfall. We also identified different oceans around the world. 4th Grade: This week we finished our unit on erosion, learned about different land forms, and had and studied how they look on maps. 5th Grade: This week we worked in centers learning more about space. We graphed different constellations, read articles about space while taking notes, and did research to answer questions we have up with at the beginning of the unit. 6th Grade: This week we began talking about science fair. The students learned about the format for this year's project, and began researching potential project ideas. |
