Kindergarten: This week the students talked about teeth in honor of February being Dental Health Awareness month. We talked about the importance of taking care of our teeth, and the students looked at real animal teeth and models of human and dinosaur teeth. 1st Grade: This week we went to the garden to harvest our crops to donate to the Valley Shelter, and planted beans, radishes, and lettuce. Our garden is becoming so hearty and colorful! 2nd Grade: This week we learned all about whales. We had a special speaker from the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium come to talk to us all about whales in preparation for our upcoming whale-watching trip. 3rd Grade: This week we talked about butterfly metamorphosis as we observed our new class butterfly, Anna in her newly made chrysalis. We are excited to watch her change into her butterfly form! 4th Grade: This week the students made skeleton models out of Q-Tips, and labeled some of the major bones. We watched a video about bones and muscles, which leads us into our next system of study...the muscular system! 5th: This week we learned all about the different spheres of the earth (biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and geosphere) and how they interact with one another. We also began learning about natural resources. 6th Grade: This week the students worked on their Background Research paragraphs, which are due Tuesday, 3/3. They worked on their papers in science class, as well as in their writing class.
