PreK: This week we learned all about the human body. We talked about our different body systems, and what we can do to make our bodies healthy and strong.
Kindergarten: This week we learned about the different states of matter. We compared the properties of water ice and dry ice, and observed them changing states. 1st Grade: This week we learned about light energy. We talked about different sources of light, and experimented with refraction and reflection activities. 2nd Grade: This week we began designing kites as a part of our unit on forces. We look forward to building and testing our kites in the coming weeks. 3rd Grade: This week we continued our study on magnets by beginning to come up with questions that we would like to test using the scientific method. We will be creating and testing our experiment designs next week. 4th Grade: This week we finished testing our earthquake-proof structures, and completed a structural analysis on our designs. We began our next unit which focuses on different types of waves. 5th Grade: This week we continued our matter and properties unit by learning about dry ice and its properties. The students designed experiments to test their own questions relating to dry ice, and tested them in class. 6th Grade: Students are working on their science fair trials at home, and we are troubleshooting any issues with students on an individual basis along the way. The students began their in-class research project, which focuses on the life and accomplishments of a great scientist of their choice.

PreK: This week we learned about the human body. We talked about the different body systems and how to keep our bodies healthy and strong.
Kindergarten: This week we began to focus on the animals everyone is researching for their animal projects. We focused on the cat family, and learned about various types of wild cats. 1st Grade: This week we began our unit on sound. We experimented with turning forks, sound pipes, and participated in other sound-related activities. 2nd Grade: This week we participated in a Lego design challenge, to work on understanding how small parts can make up multiple structures. 3rd Grade: This week we continued our unit on forces. We learned about magnetism, and explored what types of materials are magnetic. 4th Grade: This week we continued building our earthquake-proof structures. We are excited to finish assembling them and begin testing them next week! 5th Grade: This week we began our unit on matter and its properties. We learned about matter, conducted an inquiry activity, and the students were assigned a Brainpop to take notes on and present to the class next week. 6th Grade: This week continued to work on our Science Fair projects. The students should now begin testing their experiments at home. Their trials need to be completed by April 4th. PreK: This week we learned about the human body. 1st Grade: This week finished our unit on the sun, and began our unit on sound. We experimented with turning forks and other materials that make vibrations. 2nd Grade: This week we continued to learn about simple machines. We watched a BrainPop about different types of simple machines, and learned about different inventors and inventions. 3rd Grade: This week we began our unit on forces. We learned about a specific new icebreaker that has been created to help break up ice in the Arctic. We also experimented with different amounts of force to thrust a balloon across the room. 4th Grade: This week we began building our earthquake-proof structures. We are excited to finish assembling them and begin testing them next week! 5th Grade: This week we launched our stomp rockets. After our initial launches, we redesigned and relaunched to see if we made any substantial improvements. 6th Grade: This week continued to work on our Science Fair projects. The procedure section was due on Friday, March 4th. The students can now begin testing their experiments at home. |
