PreK: This week, we learned all about the 5 senses, and what type of information we get by using each sense. We also spent some time with Bernardo, our bearded dragon, and compared how we use our senses similarly and differently than him. Kindergarten: This week, we continued to learn about different types of weather, and how changes in air temperature affects different weather conditions. 1st Grade: This week we made butter for Colonial Day, and began to learn about how humans mimic animals through adaptation. 2nd Grade: This week we continued our Hand Pollinator Design Challenge, and the students built and tested their artificial pollinators. 3rd Grade: This week we continued to learn all about fossils and the geologic timeline of the Earth. 4th Grade: This week we began the "Plan" phase of our Prosthetic Design Challenge, where students collaborated in groups to create their final design and begin building. 5th Grade: This week we explored the energy pyramid on campus, and began our Ecosystem Model project that will be completed over the next few weeks. Students will be working in groups to research an ecosystem and create a 3-D model representing the energy pyramid in that specific area. 6th Grade: This week, we asked questions about genetics and DNA, and discussed new vocabulary that will be used throughout the unit.

Kindergarten: This week, we continued to learn about different types of weather, and how changes in air temperature affects different weather conditions. 1st Grade: This week we visited Mrs. Kabat in the garden, planting different crops for our new gardening season! 2nd Grade: This week we learned about pollination, and how bees are able to pollinate plants. We also began our Hand Pollinator Design Challenge, where the students will be using everyday materials to create artificial pollinators to help farmers due to the decline in the bee population. 3rd Grade: This week we continued to learn all about fossils and created our very own fossils using clay, shells, and Plaster of Paris that we will take home next week! 4th Grade: This week we began the "Imagine" phase of our Prosthetic Design Challenge. Next week, the students are going to work in small groups to plan their initial designs. 5th Grade: This week we learned about decomposition, and created a classroom compost bin that we will monitor on a weekly basis. 6th Grade: This week, we learned about DNA, and did a DNA Extractions Lab where the students were able to examine their own cheek cells! |
