We enjoyed starting the week with a lovely all school Havdalah service. After saying “good-bye” to Shabbat and welcoming the week we spent some time singing in Temple. During the week we continued to discuss Israel. When we introduced the holiday of Yom Ha’atzmaut last week, the children were very excited to learn that the Israeli flag has two blue strips and a star in the center of it and that the star is called the Star of David.
We were very busy preparing for our celebrations of Israel’s 70th birthday listening to stories and singing songs. Many of the children enjoyed helping bake a blue and white cake for Israel’s birthday on Wednesday. Thursday we traveled through Israel. Each classroom in the Hoffman building was set up with a different themed activity. The children enjoyed the airplane room, farm room, Wailing Wall room, doctor’s office and a kitchen/ market/dining room. After that we enjoyed tasting all the delicious foods of Israel. We want to thank those of you that brought in items for our celebration. Friday we enjoyed celebrating Shabbat with Sloane and her family. We had a lovely time in Temple. We danced around the Temple with our flags for Yom Ha’atzmaut.
