With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we have been discussing many of the holiday symbols, their meanings and what it means to be “thankful.” We will continue to talk about and sing songs for the holiday leading up to our Friendship Feast, next Tuesday.
The children enjoyed cutting open our giant pumpkin as well as using their sense of touch to experience the inside of the pumpkin. Many of them shared their predictions about what they were going to see inside, such as turtles. They were quite surprised when they found gooey string and seeds. The children really enjoyed traveling to some of the other classrooms on Thursday to shuck corn, make cranberry sauce, mash potatoes and mix up corn muffins. We are also looking forward to cooking more foods related to the holiday next week. We enjoyed Shabbat inside our classroom baking challah and reciting the blessings.
