This week the children continue to enjoy the warmer weather. Many of them have been filling up the water tables during our outside time. While playing with the water the children are identifying different textures, discriminating between solids and liquids, matter and its properties as well as sensory integration of body and materials. The children are also doing a wonderful job of building caring bonds for their fellow classmates. We have had the pleasure of observing Enya and Yu Shen seeking each other out during our outside time to create in the sand. The boys have been taking turns while sharing ideas and sand toys. We also witnessed a loving moment between Lewis and Orli during our challah making on Shabbat. Orli was asking Lewis how she made her challah so long. Lewis leaned over to Orli and began rolling out her challah dough for her. Both girls smiled at each other and Orli shared with her teachers how Lewis did her challah for her.
We think the Fall weather is coming and we look forward to introducing the sights, sounds, and smells. We have slowed down a bit this week to enjoy making a fresh batch of red cinnamon play dough and making music with Marcos. On Wednesday we enjoyed our first yoga class with Teacher Cheryl in the yoga room. Many of the children enjoyed tasting different types of apples as well as discussions about color, taste, texture and the geography of where apples come from. The children displayed their inner bakers while making challah in class. We enjoyed our first Shabbat in Temple this week with Jen on her guitar and Rabbi Josh. While in Temple we sang songs and heard a story told by Rabbi Josh about asking for forgiveness. Shabbat Shalom Tania, Julia and Tricia
