The children have been very busy this past week studying volcanoes. Be sure to ask them about the different parts of a volcano, what comes out of the volcanoes, what grows on them and where they can be found. While they are discussing the various volcanic topics the children are gaining access to new vocabulary, concepts of texture, size, weight and colors. They are also developing a sense of similarities and differences. Lastly the children are gaining a sense of geography. They are continuing to add to the giant volcanoe on our classroom wall. They have even begun painting individual volcanoes at the outside easel as well as making hot oozing lava with the goop inside the room. We are looking forward to some exciting volcano experiments in the coming weeks as we talk about different ways to create more volcanoes inside and outside of our classroom.
The children are also remembering how important it is to keep from spreading their germs and the importance of thorough hand washing. They enjoyed making their germs scatter in an experiment proving how useful soap is. We continue to talk about Fall and the first holiday of the season, Thanksgiving. We introduced the theme of the holiday and some of the symbols related to the holiday. Be sure to ask you children what ship the Pilgrims sailed over on as what Rock they landed at. We enjoyed a lovely Shabbat with Aiden and his family. During Temple we enjoyed singing with Rabbi Sari and Jen. Then listened to Rabbi Sari tell a story. Shabbat Shalom T & T
