With Hanukkah right around the corner we continue to sing songs and talk about the holiday we call The Festival of Lights. It has been fun to watch many of the children recreating the story on the rug with the wooden blocks. The children have been very busy working on a special Hanukkah gift, and are very excited to take it home to share with their families during Hanukkah. On Thursday the children enjoyed their first of many Latkes’ for snack and are looking forward to more next Wednesday at our classroom Hanukkah party. Many of the children have been busy helping to select and paint the colors for our Hanukkiah candles on the board and are very excited because we have saved the “helper candle” known as the “Shamash” for last. We had a very full and busy Friday taking a trip to the farmers market, celebrating Evie’s birthday as well as her Special Shabbat. At the farmers market some of the children enjoyed picking out apples, while others enjoyed cups of fresh cut up fruits, and a few had the cucumbers. When we returned to the class we helped Evie celebrate her birthday with delicious cupcakes and a lovely Shabbat with Evie’s mom and dad.
