We started of the week with a lovely visit from James’ grandparents, Peggy and Ken. During their visit they did a woodworking project with the children. The children were introduced to new vocabulary words, such as Porcupine, Balsa wood and Brazil. Ken demonstrated how the children would hammer the golf tee into the wood to make porcupines. Then Ken and Peggy assisted the children in making their own individual porcupines. While woodworking the children are building their dexterity for better fine motor development. Gaining skills such as eye-hand coordination, problem-solving, independence/self-esteem as well as relieving stress by pounding the wood.
With Hanukkah right around the corner we continue to sing songs and talk about the holiday we call The Festival of Lights. It has been fun to watch many of the children recreating the story on the rug with the wooden blocks. The children have been very busy working on a special Hanukkah gift, and are very excited to take it home to share with their families during Hanukkah. We are also looking forward to celebrating Hanukkah next week in class. Wednesday December 5th at 9:30 am. We had a lovely Shabbat with Lily, her mom and brother. The strawberries she brought for snack were very sweet and delicious. During Temple we enjoyed singing songs for Hanukkah with Ditza and Rabbi Sari. Shabbat Shalom T & T
