Shalom Ulpanon Families,
The children were excited to be back at school and to share their personal Thanksgiving adventures. During calendar time in class, we welcomed the month of December and the Hebrew month of Kislev. We continue to practice our numbers, counting 30 days to the end of November, and starting again from the number 1 for December. We have been telling the story of Hanukkah through books and songs; the children are getting familiar with the story and recognizing the symbols. They had a wonderful time creating beautiful individual hanukiyot from Plastilina modeling clay. Ulpanon Bet visited the Beit Issie Farmers Market, where we enjoyed “purchasing” fruit and giving tzedakah. Thank you for taking part in leading the children in this important mitzvah oftikkun olam, and reinforcing it every week by giving to Sova and tzedakah. The Wise School “Light Up Literacy” campaign to raise funds and transform the lives of Guatemalan children by giving them the gift of reading is in full force! A $10 donation buys 2 books/$25 buys 5 books. Wise School students will receive a hand- woven friendship bracelet as token of appreciation for each donation. There is a “Light Up Literacy” donation page in Room 1. Please help us fill the page and reach the top line! Todah! During PE with Coach Danny in the Katz Pavilion Gym, the children participated in an all-class teams game that incorporated activities they had been practicing since the beginning of the year, focusing on the hand-eye/foot-eye coordination, prediction and taking turns. They kids had a wonderful time aiming, rolling, kicking and knocking the balls off the cones in the middle of the teams. During Music with Ditza, the children spinning dreidels (svivonim) on flat percussion instruments. They also had fun dancing with the giant rainbow goomi (elastic/rubber) band and singing Hanukkah songs. Reminders:
Thank you to Aaron Triphon and family for helping us usher in Shabbat! B’vracha, Meirav and Shoshi
